At 5.30 am Ricardo comes to wake us up and offers us coca tea or coffee. How wonderful to wake up to these views.

The second stage takes us from Janca camp at 4,250 metres to Carhuacocha camp at 4,250 metres. Along the way, we will encounter eight lakes. The highest point is the Carhuac pass at 4,650 metres.
We gather our things and go to the dining tent for breakfast. I don't dare eat much and have a roll and a cup of coca tea for breakfast. Ricardo tells me I need to build up my strength, but I prefer to be completely well before eating a big meal.
Ricardo gives us a strawberry and a snack to take with us today.

We start walking slowly, my rucksack is once again carried by the horse, many thanks to Vanesa.
We climb the hill until we reach the Carhuac pass, where we are greeted by beautiful views of the Mitucocha and Nancocha lagoons. It is quite cloudy and very cold. We stop to rest and I eat a strawberry, which tastes great. Strawberries are a hard-skinned fruit, very juicy inside and sweet.

We kept walking until we reached the Alcaycocha and Jahuacocha lagoons. We were simply speechless. How beautiful, even though it was cloudy!
We took a thousand photos. The place is breathtaking.

On the way back to camp, it rains and even snows a little for half an hour. Our camp is at Carhuacocha Lake.
In total, we climb 690 metres over 14 kilometres.
Today we eat at the camp and I finally dare to eat a little more. Giovanni is an amazing cook.
In the afternoon, the sun comes out and we enjoy the warmth, although it eventually clouds over.
There are only two toilets at this camp, and they are a bit out of the way.
At 6 o'clock, it's time for dinner, which is delicious. Soup, rice with tofu stew, and coca tea.
Night falls and the mountain clears, offering us impressive views as we go to rest for the night: the large and small Yerupaja snow-capped mountains and Siula.
